Bornholm’s Boutique & Outdoor Hotel

In the old hotel in Sandvig luxury is found in the good stories, the warm colonial chic atmosphere and the nature experiences - don’t expect a hotel that is renovated from top to toe. The Falcon Hotel offers its very own universe of patina, personality and preserved animals. Pretty unique in Denmark and especially in Bornholm.

Don’t forget the adventure

“Our dream is that after having visited us guests will say:
‘Let’s go home and do something about those adventures we had forgotten all about!”

Parties & Gatherings

Follow the long stairway, carefully watched over by the white lions, and meet us in the Main House: The beating heart of the hotel where adventures roam and stories flourish. Here you’ll find inspiration along the panels or in the cracks in the old wooden floor and have your sense of adventure awoken. Upstairs no two rooms are identical, and downstairs is where we gather to celebrate and share travel tales. Basically everything has been redesigned leaving plenty of room for that “wow” effect, curious findings and rare animals. Oh - and a reception desk build up from old travel memories

Explore The Falcon Hotel

Main House

Enjoy the colonial chic style with cozy nooks and crannies, lounge area and two grand halls. On the ground floor you’ll find the reception where Mette or Kiki will help you out with everything from finding your keys to discovering the best spots in nature. It’s also here that breakfast and dinner are served, where we celebrate or where we simply plunge down into a soft chair and let our minds wander over a nice vintage bourbon. The first floor features seven rooms with ensuite bathrooms and views over either the Baltic Sea or over our Cliff Garden. No two roms are identical, but soft cushions, heavy curtains, coziness and warmth are present behind each and every door.

Garden House

Sleep surrounded by dramatic cliffs, wild herbs and warped trees in the hotel’s Garden House. All rooms are renovated as of 2021 featuring new designs and new bathrooms. On the top floor you’ll find eight rooms each with small but private balconies and views of the Baltic Sea or our garden. On the ground floor we have further 10 rooms, each with their own little breathing space just outside the door, big new terraces and direct access to the lawn between the trees. If you dream about relaxing with your back up against the sun-warmed cliffs while sharing the day’s experiences until you’re ready to keel over, it’s from here you’ll find the shortest route back to bed.

Guest House

This is the more secluded part where you can enjoy peace and quiet and a view over Hammerknuden. The rooms here were also redesigned in 2021 boasting exciting interiors, original bathrooms and lovely new terraces with sunset views.

You can drive all the way up to the door and park your car on the same level as the house, which is convenient if your luggage is on the heavier side. In Guest House, you’re also allowed to bring along a few special guests - your pets. Just let us know if you’re bringing a prairie dog, a sheep dog, a hunting dog, a tracker dog, a lap-dog or a dachshund, and we’ll provide the appropriately sized bowl!

The Never Ending Story

The hotel was build in 1905 in a time when guests would come sailing in by steam boat to Bornholm, the island had its own railway and Hammershus was a ruin - just like today.

Positioned high up over the road the hotel has always been an exotic destination for sophisticated men and women of the world. It had a Palm Court, swing music, braided furniture and ice-cooled pineapple drinks on the menu. And for the more wealthy guests: A fine Madeira for a whopping 6 DKK!

From 1970’s orange to colonial chic

So the hotel is a mature lady formed by the encounters of dozens of people and of more than 100 years of changing styles. During the renovation we actually found wallpaper from the 1970’s in four different shades of orange, an old gold framed stage and newspapers nearly 100 years old hidden in the walls.

During the entire process we’ve tried to recreate the best from times past with a safe and timeless grip: Colonial chic. Our take on the style, to which we’ve added a dash of safari and Victorian grandeur, makes The Falcon Hotel THE boutique and outdoor hotel of Bornholm.

So the story ends here? Not at all. We keep adding to it every day and hopefully together with you…

We look forward to welcoming you at
